The DesignSingapore Council’s mission is to enable enterprise to leverage on design to be competitive and its vision is to put Singapore on the design world map by becoming the leading global city for design creativity where design improves capability, enhances our quality of life and sharpens our competitive edge. The Council is a Division of the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts.
 
As DesignSingapore expands and moves into our next stage of development, we are seeking creative and gracious individuals to help realise this vision:

 

Design for Competitiveness Unit
Develop capability for a globally competitive design sector

 

Assistant Director/Senior Manager
Design for Competitiveness Unit (1 position)

 

To assist the Design for Enterprises Lead in the operation of the Design for Enterprises Centre and the administration of related support programmes and grants. The Centre is a one-stop resource and advisory platform serving the needs of both small and medium enterprises adn designers, to enable design innovation in businesses for global competitiveness.

Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Implement programmes to promote strategic design adoption to enterprises
- Manage and administer support grants and tax-related incentives
- Engage and account manage enterprises and design firms
- Advise enterprises and designers on available resources and support programmes
- Handle enquiries

 

Requirements:
- Good degree preferably in Business Administration, Accountancy or Design Management 
- At least 5 years of experience in business development or marketing
- Possess a passion for design
- Resourceful and self-motivated
- Working experience in corporate tax management or grant administration will be an added advantage
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good team player


Manager/ Assistant Manager
Design for Competitiveness (2 position)

 

To assist the Design for Enterprises Lead in the operation of the Design for Enterprises Centre and the administration of related support programmes and grants. The Centre is a one-stop resource and advisory platform serving the needs of both small and medium enterprises adn designers, to enable design innovation in businesses for global competitiveness.
 
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Administer support grants and tax related incentives
- Engage and account-manage enterprises and design firms to promote strategic design adoption
- Organise design- business related workshops, forums and networking sessions
- Advise enterprises and designers on available resources and support programmes
- Handle enquiries
 
Requirements:
- Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Accountancy or any Design discipline 
- Minimum 3 years experience in project management, business development or marketing
- Possess a passion for design
- Resourceful and self-motivated
- Working experience in corporate tax management or grant administration will be an advantage
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good team player

 

Assistant Manager/Executive
Design for Clusters (1 position)

 

To assist the Design for Competitiveness Unit Lead in the development and management of the next phase of 10Touchpoints, a public programme to improve everyday living through better design in the public realm. The programme consists of three phases- public feedback, design competition and follow-through implementation. 10Touchpoints is part of the larger “Design in Clusters” programme which strives to apply design thinking and design-based learning to drive innovation processes to create new value propositions for the future.

 

Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Develop, plan and manage 10Touchpoints activities involving facilitation of public- private-people collaborations, calling for participation, appointment of steering committees and experts, publicity management, procurement of contractor services, etc
- Work as a member of the “Design in Clusters” team to support other projects under the “Design in Clusters” programme.
- Organise design- business related workshops, forums and networking sessions

 

Requirements:
- Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Design, Design Management or liberal arts (any field)
- At least 3 years experience in project management, business development or industry development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An appreciation of new media developments and keenness to explore new opportunities offered by new media
- Strong interest in design and appreciation of the arts and media
- Able to meet tight deadline and work under pressure
- Good team player

 

Corporate Management
Manager/Assistant Manager, Corporate Management (1 position)

 

To assist Senior Assistant Director (Corporate Management) in overseeing the Financial and Administrative functions in DesignSingapore Council to ensure efficient deployment of resources.

 

Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Administration of a Budget Tracking System
- Budget reports
- Manage the budgeting cycle within the Ministry
- Manage post-project reports and contracts
- Plan and organise Key Corporate meetings and Retreats
- Institute processes to ensure adherence to civil service guidelines, rules and procedures
- Constant review and improvement to work processes
- Liaise with internal and external auditors
- Compilation of reports
- Custodian of contractual agreements
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
- Degree in Business or Finance field
- Minimum 4 years of working experience is required
- Experience in corporate management is an advantage
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to deal with people at all levels
- Good team player

Management Support Officer
Corporate Management (1 position)

To provide administrative and logistical support to the programme/ project managers in DesignSingapore Council

Main duties and responsibilities includes:
- Administrative and operational support
- Logistical support
- Grant administration
- Travel arrangement support
- Budget tracking
 
Requirements:
- Minimum GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent
- At least 5 years of working experience
- Able to work independently and efficiently
- Be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines 
- Good knowledge of departmental procedures, policies, systems and regulations
- Good interpersonal and effective organisational skills
- Basic IT knowledge and familiar with Microsoft office applications
- Good command of English
- Good team player

 

Management Support Officer
Corporate Management (1 position)

 

To provide administrative and logistical support for Corporate Management Unit

- Administrative and operational support
- Logistical support
- Grant administration
- Travel arrangement support
- Budget-tracking
 
Requirements:
- Minimum GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent
- At least 5 years of working experience
- Able to work independently and efficiently
- Good knowledge of departmental procedures, policies, systems and regulations
- Good interpersonal and effective organisational skills
- Basic IT knowledge and familiar with Microsoft office applications
- Be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines 
- Good command of English
- Good team player
- Financial work experience is an advantage

i) A 1-page essay on "Why is design important to me?" (All positions except Corporate Management)
 
Short listed candidates will be called for an interview which includes a short powerpoint presentation of your essay on "Why is design important to me?", complete an official application form, and submit certified copies of supporting documents. Selected works from candidates' portfolio should be made available at the interview.
